The Chikkamagaluru police arrested two men on charges of murdering a 31-year-old man, within hours of the crime in the Lakkavalli police station limits on Friday night.
The duo allegedly waylaid the victim, identified as Charan, on a road near Bavikere in Tarikere taluk and murdered him. Superintendent of Police Vikram Amathe formed two teams to nab the accused.
Mr. Amathe told reporters on Saturday that the police secured the accused, identified as Santhosh and Sachin Naik.
He said that Santosh is the brother-in-law of Charan, who was arrested last year on charges of murdering his wife. Recently, he came out of jail on bail, and Santosh murdered Charan to avenge his sister’s murder, Mr. Amathe said.
