For many women, period pain is something they are conditioned to brush aside as ‘normal’, even when it disrupts daily life, forcing them to miss work/school, cancel plans, or depend heavily on painkillers each month. Heavy bleeding, exhaustion, and discomfort are quietly endured, sometimes for years, without questioning why. What many don’t realise is that menstrual pain in some cases, may point to an underlying condition that has simply gone unnoticed.
April, observed as Adenomyosis Awareness Month, is a reminder to take these experiences seriously, because for many, what seems like a ‘bad period’ could actually be a medical condition that needs attention, understanding, and care.
