For a long time, the idea of dating after the age of50 in India was acknowledged in theory but rarely in practice. You were expected to have completed that chapter already. To want romance again, or even companionship, could feel like reopening something that had been very carefully filed away and labelled “done.”
What’s changed is not that people have suddenly become more romantic, but that they have become less interested in pretending they aren’t. Dating, at this stage, is approached with the same practical curiosity one might reserve for a new gym membership, or a WhatsApp group one didn’t entirely want to be added to, but will give a chance anyway.
