Collector S. Kandasamy has directed all government and government-authorised private e-Sevai centres in Erode district to ensure accurate processing of applications and warned that action would be taken against centres whose errors result in the rejection of applications.
The direction follows a recent inspection by the Collector at e-Sevai centres functioning at Appakudal and the Pudupalayam Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society in Bhavani taluk.
According to a press release, the district has 201 government e-Sevai centres and 661 government-authorised private e-Sevai centres. The centres have been established to provide government services closer to people’s homes, reducing the need to visit government offices and ensuring transparent, intermediary-free service delivery.
The centres facilitate applications for various government services and also provide Aadhaar-related services at designated locations, including enrolment, biometric updates, and changes to personal details. They also offer employment registration and renewal, updating of educational qualifications, electricity bill payment, and applications for voter identity cards and corrections.
The Collector instructed operators to verify supporting documents thoroughly before uploading information. If applications are rejected because of incorrect data uploaded by a centre, appropriate action will be initiated against the operator concerned, the release said.
He also directed that only the government-prescribed service charge of ₹60 should be collected for all services offered through e-Sevai centres. The prescribed charges should be displayed prominently at every centre. The centres should also provide basic amenities such as drinking water and toilets, and staff should treat members of the public courteously, he said.
The Collector urged the public to use the nearest government e-Sevai centre to avail themselves of government services without unnecessary expenditure of time and money.
