A bright and sunny day in Hyderabad suddenly turned dark after the noon on Monday (August 3, 2026) as rain swept through several parts of the city, catching commuters off guard and slowing traffic on some stretches.

The sudden spell prompted several two-wheeler riders to take shelter under the Khairatabad Metro Station. The congregation of vehicles beneath the station resulted in slow-moving traffic on the stretch between Ayodhya Junction and VV Statue.

According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 3 p.m., Khairatabad recorded a rainfall of 14.5 mm followed by 12.8 mm in Monda market, 11.8 mm in Bansilalpet, 7.5 mm in Chilkalguda, 6 mm in Amberpet, 5.8 mm in Uppal, 5 mm in Kukatpally and 4.8 mm in Srinagar Colony.
