The Station House Officer of the Balanagar Excise Station, Venukumar, was suspended in connection with the adulterated toddy case in Kukatpally, which has so far claimed eight lives and left more than 50 people hospitalised. While not elaborating on the precise grounds for the suspension, Joint Commissioner (Enforcement) S.Y. Qureshi confirmed that an internal inquiry had been initiated and stated that the action was related to “negligence.”
