U.S. visa holders will be deported if they are found to be violating U.S. laws and immigration rules, said the U.S. Embassy on Saturday (July 12, 2025). The announcement came days after the U.S. government announced that social media accounts of applicants should be turned to “public” to allow check of social media posts by the U.S. authorities.
“U.S. visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued. We continuously check visa holders to ensure they follow all U.S. laws and immigration rules – and we will revoke their visas and deport them if they don’t,” said the U.S. Embassy in a social media post.
A day earlier, the U.S. embassy had warned that “falsifying or omitting information” related to social media accounts could lead to visa denial and future visa ineligibility. The tightening of the visa rules is part of the Trump administration’s measures to stop illegal immigration.
The U.S. Embassy in India has been cautioning about the tightening visa procedures in the recent months and on June 28 had warned that people attempting to commit visa frauds would be “held responsible” for their actions saying, “If you break U.S. law, you will be punished with significant criminal penalties.”
