A school lecturer appointed as supervisor for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls died after complaining of chest pain in Rajasthan’s Karauli district late on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) night. His family alleged that he was under an intense pressure for completing the SIR-related work.

Santram Saini, 45, had reportedly received a notice on November 17, 2025, with the charge of his slow progress in the SIR exercise. Saini’s brother Rajendra Singh said he experienced sharp chest pain and vomiting at his home in Karsooli village and was rushed to a hospital, but he died on the way.

Saini was posted at the PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School in Hindaun and deployed as an SIR supervisor. Another government school teacher, Hari Om Bairwa, tasked with the SIR duty as a Booth Level Officer (BLO), died of cardiac arrest in Sawai Madhopur district on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) morning.

Saini’s family has not filed a formal complaint with the police in connection with his death. The post-mortem was conducted at the Karauli district hospital in the presence of police officials, after which the body was handed over to the family on Thursday (November 20, 2025).

The teachers’ unions and government employees have expressed concern and staged protests at several places in the State during the last few days, alleging that a heavy pressure was being exerted on them for the SIR-related work. The government employees in Sikar on Thursday (November 20, 2025) demanded financial assistance of ₹50 lakh each for the families of deceased employees.
