The Telangana Government Doctors’ Association (TGGDA) has raised objections to what it calls the prolonged neglect of critical wings of the State’s public healthcare system, particularly the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) and the Directorate of Health.
According to TGGDA, the TVVP, which handles secondary healthcare, remains headless, with no appointment made for the post of Director of Secondary Health Services.
“A key administrative proposal to restructure TVVP hospitals and convert the organisation from a grant-in-aid model to a full-fledged directorate has been pending for over a year. The file has seen no progress despite there being no financial burden on the State,” the Association said in a statement.
It further said that the last recruitment of Civil Assistant Surgeon Specialists in TVVP was conducted in 2018. Doctors are facing career stagnation, with no promotions granted for Deputy Civil Surgeon (CSS) posts and no programme officer (District Coordinator of Hospital Services) promotions since the formation of Telangana.
