Eight DMK partymem were booked by Ukkadam police on Saturday on charges of threatening a sub-inspector attached to the station.
Based on a complaint lodged by the SI Ajay Sharma, a case was registered against Coimbatore Urban District deputy secretary of DMK Kottai Abbas, area secretary Badharudeen, ward secretary Abbas, youth wing functionary Masood, and four others for allegedly obstructing the SI from performing his duties.
A video of Kottai Abbas threatening the SI during the course of a road roko protest by DMK that he will get the latter shifted out went viral on social media. The DMK partymen had staged the road roko irked by the presence of large banners welcoming AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami for election campaign in Town Hall area.
