The process to select the BJP State president has started and very soon, a leader will be unanimously elected, said Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, in Dharwad on Sunday.
“Neither B.Y. Vijayendra nor V. Somanna have declared that they will be the president. Some of their followers may have felt so and expressed their desire openly. But whether it is Mr. Vijayendra or Mr. Somanna, the president will be elected unopposed,” Mr. Joshi said.
“The process of appointing presidents is on in several States. The system in our party is that presidents are not nominated. They are elected. The election may be unanimous at times,” he said.
To a query, he said he did not have a clear idea of what Mr. Somanna had said about this issue. “I know that some leaders have met senior leaders expressing their opinions about the appointments. But I do not think there is any confusion about the appointment in the party,” Mr. Joshi said.
