Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) has asked actor Biju Menon to provide a compensation of about ₹15 lakh to meet the alleged loss incurred by the producer of his movie Nadanna Sambhavam after the actor had allegedly failed to turn up for its promotion as per contractual obligations.
The KFPA has suggested that the actor may set apart the amount from his remuneration for the next movie bankrolled by Listin Stephen, who is also the secretary of the producers’ association. B. Rakesh, president of the association, said on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) that the decision has been conveyed to the actor.
The controversy hogged the headlines after B. Unnikrishnan, general secretary of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), had stated on Monday that Anoop Kannan, producer of Nadanna Sambhavam, had incurred a loss of about ₹25 lakh from his satellite revenue as the actor did not turn up for the promotional events as per the contract.
Mr. Kannan had lodged a complaint with the KFPA alleging that Mr. Menon had only turned up for a few hours of the promotion, though the agreement had stated that the actors had to allocate around 10 days for promotion interviews and events as per the agreement with the producer. The movie’s promotional events attended by the lead actors remain part of the agreement signed by the producer with digital platforms too, he said.
Mr. Menon could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
