Minutes after the Question Hour began, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the Lok Sabha as Opposition members refused to relent from sloganeering.
Congress members wanted Mr. Birla to allow Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi to speak. Mr Birla said everyone would be allowed to speak according to rules after the Question House. He said the LoP can place his issues during the discussion on Budget as well. However, as the members were not relenting, he adjourned the House.
Mr. Gandhi did not complete his speech, during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address last week, as he was disallowed from bringing up the former Army Chief’s unpublished memoir.
The House will reconvene at noon.
