Three persons were burnt to death and another sustained injuries after a head-on collision between two lorries sparked a fire on national highway near Maripeda in Mahabubabad district during the early hours of Friday (July 4, 2025).
The accident was reported at around 3.15 a.m.
According to an official from the Maripeda police, a stone-laden lorry was en route from Vijayawada to Gujarat, while the other, transportig cattle, was travelling from Warangal towards Andhra Pradesh.
Police teams rushed to the spot upon receiving information and launched a rescue operation. The fire broke out in one of the lorry cabin, leading to the death of the driver and helper from one lorry and another from the other. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision and subsequent fire.
