A 40-year-old woman and a cow were found electrocuted in a cocoa plantation at Pashukkadavu near Thottilpalam in Kozhikode on Saturday (August 2, 2025).
Bobby, wife of Choolapparambil Shiju, had gone missing on Friday (August 1, 2025) afternoon after she went in search of her cow that had not returned from grazing. The bodies were found around midnight. Initial suspicions pointed to a wild animal attack, though no injuries were found on either body. The autopsy report confirmed that both the woman and the cow were electrocuted.
The cocoa plantation where the bodies were found is located along the forest border. The electric traps set up in the plantation to ward off wild animals are suspected to be the source of the current.
