Hyderabad: Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) officials seized 825 kg of adulterated paneer from 45 food outlets and eight manufacturing units on Wednesday, June 17.
The paneer was allegedly made using synthetic milk, starch, excess water and non-milk fats, officials said.

Earlier, on March 18, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team, in coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Food Safety Officers (FSO) conducted raids in Ganj Bazar, Secunderabad, leading to a seizure of 3,892 kg of dairy products worth Rs 11,11,600. Six people, operating the retail and wholesale outlets, were also arrested during the raid.
Officials found that the paneer and other dairy items, such as khoa, white cream, ghee and kalakand, were stored under open plastic covers, exposing them to dust, flies, and contaminants. The products also lacked proper labelling, including brand name, manufacturing date, expiry date, and pest control records, indicating serious violations of food safety standards.
The products were falsely marketed as high-quality items and sold at Rs 280 per kg to catering services, hotels, and customers, a release from the Hyderabad police stated.
