Tamil star Karthi has joined hands with director Mohan Raja for a family entertainer. The movie will be bankrolled by Prince Pictures. The makers announced the project on August 03, 2026 (Monday).
Prince Pictures has produced Karthi’s Singam 2 and Sardar. In an official release, the production house said, “The film marks a new collaboration with Karthi, with Prince Pictures once again backing a project designed to deliver solid family values, heartfelt entertainment, and inspiring heroism on the big screen.”
Director Mohan Raja, celebrated for films such as Santhosh Subramaniam (2008), Velayudham (2011), and Thani Oruvan (2015), is currently celebrating his 25th year in the film industry. S Lakshman Kumar is the producer. “I have no words to thank you for always standing by me. Please bless me in this journey too,” the director wrote on social media.

The makers are yet to announce the other cast members and technical crew of the movie. Meanwhile, Karthi last starred in Vaa Vaathiyar (2026), directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. The Hindu review of the movie said, “The climax, in particular, is a chaotic mess that leaves you with a brain-freezing aftertaste. In fact, the choppy second half and the hurried narration make one wonder why a film like Vaa Vaathiyaar had to be just 120-odd minutes.
“Perhaps Nalan could have salvaged the film with a scene or two more in the second half. Of course, we didn’t expect Vaa Vaathiyaar to be a standard Nalan Kumarasamy film, but this could still have become an interesting masala film.”
Karthi is also working on Sardar 2 and Marshal. He has also signed an untitled Tamil-Telugu project with director Kalyan Sundar of Mad and Mad Square fame. Meenakshi Chaudhary will play the female lead in the movie. Meanwhile, Mohan Raja’s last released film was Godfather (2022), starring Chiranjeevi. The movie was a remake of the 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
