The government issued a G.O. on July 1 prescribing the A.P. Capital Region Land Pooling Scheme (Formulation and Implementation) Rules, 2025 for the capital region except the Capital City Area (CCA) which will continue to be governed by the A.P. Capital City Land Pooling Scheme (Formulation and Implementation) Rules, 2015.
It was stated in the G.O. (Ms.No.118) published in the name of S. Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration & Urban Development), that the A.P. Capital Region Development Act came into force with effect from December 30, 2014, and the government had notified an area of approximately 7,068 square kilometres for development as the capital region in compliance with the said Act.
Subsequently, the jurisdiction of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) was expanded to 8,352 sq. km following the inclusion / exclusion of some Mandals, villages, towns, and municipalities from the capital region.
Then, pursuant to a notification issued under Sec.55(2) of the APCRDA Act, 2014, the scheme of Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) Rules for the capital region was submitted to the government for building the ‘People’s Capital’ and facilitating the creation of necessary infrastructure.
The scheme was titled the Land Pooling Scheme, under which land parcels owned by individual farmers or groups of owners were consolidated by the CRDA as per comprehensive development plan.
The new set of rules are meant for the development of some additional lands outside the CCA proposed to be pooled to take up specified projects.
