An engineering student alerted the police through the Sakthi App after she was allegedly harassed by an auto driver on her way from Vijayawada to Nambur late on Saturday (April 25,2026), night. A case has been registered against the driver, B. Phanindra.

The student boarded the auto at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada around midnight and hired it to Nambur. The driver touched her inappropriately and repeatedly asked for her phone number, after which she pressed the alert on the Sakthi App on her mobile phone, Inspector-General of Police B. Raja Kumari told The Hindu.
