Around 600 entrepreneurs from 30-odd countries will participate in a three-day business summit, starting Friday, organised by Puducherry government in collaboration with the Global Organisation for People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) in Puducherry.
Announcing the business summit at a press conference here on Wednesday, Minister for Public Works K. Lakshminarayanan said the three-day event was hosted by the government in a bid to promote Puducherry as an attractive business destination. The event would be held at the Exhibition and Trade Centre at Old Port here.
“The main aim is to position Puducherry as an attractive destination for investors. Discussions will focus on improving infrastructure and providing government assistance for starting business ventures. The government believes the initiative will pave way for revenue generation and job creation,” he said.
Around 100 stalls will be set up at the summit venue by entrepreneurs to showcase various products. Representatives of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) will give detailed presentation on products and business opportunities. Experts have been drawn from various fields to deliver lectures on business opportunities in Puducherry, the Minister said.
There will be special sessions on opportunities for medical tourism in the Union Territory. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Speaker R. Selvam, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, senior officials and representatives of GOPIO will participate in the inaugural session, he said.
