The University of Western Australia (UWA) recently opened a campus in Andheri East. The campus will start admitting students from September. It will offer programs for graduates and undergraduates in business, technology and STEM subjects.
An MBA programme is set to start in November 2026. The MBA will run for 12 months, and cover strategy, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, decision-making with data and management across countries. UWA will also open a campus in Chennai in October 2026. UWA has committed about AUD 80 million to set up and run campuses in India. The step connects education, industry, research and talent between India and Western Australia, UWA said.
Western Australia’s Premier Roger Cook and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched the campus. Mr. Cook said Western Australia has had a presence in Mumbai for 30 years. He said the ties between the two countries rest on people, knowledge, skills, technology and opportunity. Mr. Fadnavis said Maharashtra welcomes UWA. He said the campus will help Mumbai as a centre for education, business and innovation. It will give students access to a qualification that employers recognise, he said.
Vice Chancellor Amit Chakma said students can earn a UWA degree while they study in Mumbai. They gain exposure to industry, build networks and develop skills, he said.
Programs offered at the Mumbai campus include Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Business Management and MBA.
The campus sits near Mumbai’s business, finance and technology ecosystem. Students will get projects, internships, mentoring, networking, career coaching and employer engagement. UWA has partnerships in India in technology, AI, cybersecurity, minerals, research and innovation.
